Words generated with GPT-4 cost more than those generated genrative ai with GPT-3, but for the highest quality copy, it can be worth it. But for now, all you really need to understand is that these tools are impressive—even if they frequently make things up.

General Rules for Prompt Writing

This list will likely change a lot over the next year or two, but for now, the vast majority of AI text generators either openly use GPT or don’t say what models they use (but seem to use GPT). A major concern around the use of generative AI tools -– and particularly those accessible to the public — is their potential for spreading misinformation and harmful content. The impact of doing so can be wide-ranging and severe, from perpetuating stereotypes, hate speech and harmful ideologies to damaging personal and professional reputation and the threat of legal and financial repercussions. It has even been suggested that the misuse or mismanagement of generative AI could put national security at risk.

When the metadata information is intact, users can easily identify an image. However, metadata can be manually removed or even lost when files are edited. Since SynthID’s watermark is embedded in the pixels of an image, it’s compatible with other image identification approaches that are based on metadata, and remains detectable even when metadata is lost. Traditional watermarks aren’t sufficient for identifying AI-generated images because they’re often applied like a stamp on an image and can easily be edited out. For example, discrete watermarks found in the corner of an image can be cropped out with basic editing techniques. Generative AI technologies are rapidly evolving, and computer generated imagery, also known as ‘synthetic imagery’, is becoming harder to distinguish from those that have not been created by an AI system.

And while you can get the AI to write a mediocre short story, please don’t. Anyword is definitely aimed at marketers, and its other tools—like the Data-Driven Editor and the Website Targeted Message—all allow you to target your content toward specific audiences and give things engagement scores. While I certainly can’t confirm the validity of any of these scores, they at least pass the sniff test. I generally thought the AI-generated content that Anyword scored higher was better—and even when I disagreed, I still liked one of the top options. While you can direct the AI to include certain details and mention specific facts for every app on this list, none make it as easy as Anyword. More than any of the others, the AI here feels like an eager and moderately competent underling that requires a bit of micromanaging, rather than a beast that you have to tame with arcane prompts.
